5 Ways To Build Trust In Your Brand: Engagement

You will notice that people who are running successful brands get a lot of engagement. Engagement can be likes, comments, shares, or any form of interaction people use with your posts. This is important because the more engagement you receive the more trust you build with your brand. When people see something with high engagement they get intrigued, and makes them want to check it out. It is a form of social proof. Plus as you get more engagement you will start popping up into other people’s newsfeed who haven’t seen your post yet.

I was taught that a healthy amount of engagement is three percent. That means if you have 100 friends, and your posts receives 3 likes, you are doing a great job. If you have 1,000 friends and only get 3 likes, you need to fix something up.

When building a brand content is going to one of your main sources of fuel. Content can come in all shapes and sizes. It can be a simple Facebook status or Tweet, memes, pictures, videos, blog posts, or sharing someone else’s content. As you can see, you have a lot of options to put out different forms of content and building your brand reputation. Why is content so important? When people visit come to your profile they want to see consistency. That means you should be consistently posting engaging forms of content. Engagement ties in with content because if you post content that receives a lot of engagement, that should be enough social proof for people to start trusting you.

Your goal should be to post content FOR your audience, and not for you. People are not online for you. They are there to socialize and digest content that will either entertain them or benefit themselves. Post content that people can relate to whether it’s videos, skits, blog posts, etc. Keep your audience entertained. Do that and you will be well on your way to building trust in your brand.

Testimonials are great for your brand identity because they are another form of social proof. “Shout-outs” are a very common form of testimonials on social media. If somebody “shouts you out” it’s probably because you have done something right by them, or they are just a fan of your work. Testimonials can bring new people to your profile. When someone “shouts you out” people on their friends list who don’t know you will see that. When another person sees that they might say to themselves, “Okay, this person is doing something good, My friend likes this person, so maybe I will too”, etc. Reviews are another form of testimonials as well. They can be placed on whatever content you post, or even products you might sell. If a new person goes to your content or product and sees a positive review, that will help build trust in your brand.
