How To Stay Consistent
What does consistency mean? That’s a word that we hear a lot of gurus throwing around, but it’s actually very important for keeping your brand afloat. I talk about how important consistency is in my new course “Rap To The Basics” which you can gain access to a free chapter here: Rap To The Basics
Anyways, if you are trying to gain a following and spread brand awareness, you need to recognize the power of consistency. I’m going to share with you five tips you can use to help you stay consistent.
How To stay consistent: Set Goals
The first step you can take to be consistent is to set goals. Whether you are a rapper, producer, marketer, or coach you should ultimately have a long term goal. Obviously we can’t reach our long term goal in a day, so we have to set smaller goals to help us get there. Setting incremental goals will help you maintain consistency. Let’s say you have a project that is going to take thirty days to complete. There should be SOMETHING you can work on each day to complete that project in thirty days. Rappers can write one song a day. Producers can make one beat a day. Writers can type one page a day. I think you get the idea. Setting goals will help you stay consistent.
How To Stay Consistent: Make A Schedule
Making a schedule will be a powerful advantage you can use to be consistent. Let’s say you know what your goals are, but you have a hard time getting them done because you feel overwhelmed. This is a very common feeling because it can always feel like you have so much to do to reach your goals. Making a schedule will help solve this problem for you and help you stay consistent. If you can write down exactly what you need to get done if will be easier for you to stay productive. For instance, let’s say your goal is to write one blog post, and shoot one video post per week. Schedule out the days you will get these tasks completed. When you have a schedule written out you will know exactly what you need to get done, and this is a key in being consistent.
How To Stay Consistent: Dedication
The key with consistency is that you have to be dedicated to what you do. To achieve your desired goals and staying productive there is no room for slacking off. As you are trying to reach success there are going to be tasks that you won’t feel like doing and aren’t motivated to complete. If you have the dedication you will STILL complete these tasks. You will face roadblocks and have to learn new skills you probably didn’t think you would have to learn. The beauty of dedication is that you will acquire these new skills because at the end of the day you know what needs to be done. If you want to be consistent, check yourself for dedication first. If you aren’t dedicated then it might be a good time to reconsider your goals.
How To Stay Consistent: Execute
Okay, so let’s say you have all three things I just mentioned checked off. You are clearly dedicated to what you do, you have set yourself some goals, and you have made a schedule. Your next step is to EXECUTE. Execution is one of most important parts of consistency. Without action, all you have is a plan, goal, passion, etc. You will not get any closer to your dreams if you do not execute your goals. I see a lot of false sense of accomplishment because people feel satisfied when they create a plan and set goals. That means NOTHING if you don’t take the proper steps to achieve those goals!
The power of consistency lies in execution. Focus on what you need to get done to get to the next step. If you have a video to shoot today, then shoot it. If you have a blog post to put out, then write it. The more you execute the more consistent you will be. When you finish one thing, DON’T STOP. Move on to the next task. Things aren’t going to get done themselves, so start executing and you will see yourself being consistent.
How To stay consistent: Always Be 10 Steps Ahead
As I mentioned before, when you finish one thing, move on to the next task. You should always have something ready to drop. If you want to stay consistent, the key is to keep pushing out new content. Don’t pump the brakes! If you finish a task and you don’t have anything planned out after that, you run the risk of breaking your consistency. Stay ahead of the game and keep the ball rolling. It’s always good to have a few things in the back burner as well. You never know what could go wrong, and if something doesn’t work out, release something that you’ve kept stashed in the back burner. The key is to stay consistent, so keep pushing out new content and stay ten steps ahead.
How To Stay Consistent
Being consistent is a whole job in itself. You have to be absolutely dedicated to what you do. It’s understandable we can get overwhelmed with life sometimes. That’s why it’s beneficial for you to set goals and schedule them out. Once you have got your schedule and your goals and laid out clearly you must focus on executing those tasks. Remember to always stay ten steps ahead. It’s always better to have a load of content in your pocket then nothing at all. If you focus on these five tips then you will have no problem in being consistent.
